Time for Some Teacher Appreciation Video Tutorial

Here is some Teacher Appreciation Ideas!

Here are the steps I took make the Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Step 1 – Open the SVG file in your cutting software (note: if you have the free version of Silhouette studio you will need the DFX files). Size the file elements as need for the project you are making. I used weeding boxes to help me weed my vinyl. This is especially important when doing the key chains. Cut your vinyl out. Make sure all your pieces are cut before ejecting from the cutting machine.

Step 2 – I started with the journal and cut those pieces first. Then while the keychain vinyl was cutting I worked on the journal. Weed your vinyl. Once that is done take your transfer tape and apply it to the vinyl. Then I used parchment paper and applied my vinyl\transfer to that. Decided where i wanted it placed and then removed the parchment paper and squeegee down the vinyl. I did this same step for the second word and the applied my accents.

Step 3 – Now for the keychains. I cut the wands off of the lip gloss tubes. Then I removed the eraser for the top. I took a small about amount of E6000 and applied it to the top and put the eraser back on the top. Let dry. I then took the baby oil and glitter (make sure your glitter is ready to use) I put the baby oil in the tube. Do not fill it up all the way. Then add your glitter. I used a piece of paper underneath to help with clean up. Now…there is such a thing as too much glitter!! You want them to galaxy float. Now decide if you need any more oil. I need a little air bubble at the top. The tubes I recommend have a plug that comes with them. BONUS! I put the plug in and then added some E6000 glue and put the cap on. You want to glue them shut to make sure you dont have an accident! Once this is done wipe your pencils with alcohol and cotton pad to get off any left over glitter and stuff. Let dry.

Step 4 – Now weed your vinyl. Lessons learned. The bigger words you can weed easily. However, the smaller ones were a bugger! Reverse weeding did help a little, however, I applied the vinyl with weeding box to the pencil and then weeded it. Be careful not to scratch them though Once I figured this out it went relatively quickly.

Step 5 – Now to finish the key chains. Take your needle nose and eye screw and attach it to the top. You want to make sure you go into the metal of the cap for good hold. I then opened the eye screw and fed in the key chain. Closed off the screw. Next take your jump ring and attach to the jump ring at the top. Add you tassel and apple charm. Close your ring. Now admire how stinking cute they are!!!

Step 6 – Wine Glass. Cut out your vinyl. While that is cutting I took the glass, alcohol and the cotton pads and cleaned the glass. Let dry. Weed your vinyl. Once that is done I actually put the words together before applying to the glass. I used parchment paper again to line everything up. Then used parchment paper to apply the vinyl to the glass. Add your accents. How is is that!!! It’s so cute and fun!!

    12PD Family Word Search

I love games!!! I love to take time out to do a Word Search especially. So I thought I would so do something different and make a Family Word Search SVG Cut File. I even did a brush stroke behind all the words to you can hang it on, etc. This is a free file in the Freebie Library. I have also created a video tutorial along with a directions below on how I made my sign. The sign I am using I bought at the Dollar Tree. So it is a fun and inexpensive project to do! However, let your creative go and have fun with it. You could print it on vellum or a transparency too!! I also thought it would be super cute on a chalk board!!! Have fun and share your creativity!

    Family Word Search Video Tutorial

I would like to note at 45 second in the video I go through how to pull it into Cricut Design space. At 4:45 I work in Silhouette Studio.

    Here is some more Inspiration!

Here are the steps I took make the Word Search

Step 1 – Open the SVG file in your cutting software (note: if you have the free version of Silhouette studio you will need the DFX files). Again, I would like to note at 45 second in the video I go through how to pull it into Cricut Design space. At 4:45 I work in Silhouette Studio. Size your cut file to the size of blank you are using. I am using a 7×7 Sign from the Dollar Tree. Since i was using a glass blank i reversed the paint stroke so you would adhere to the glass from the back side. If you are laying your letters on top of the brush strokes you will not have to do this. Also, I used weeding boxes around my elements. For the word search portion I easily could have used more to make the weeding process easier. Cut your vinyl out. Make sure all your pieces are cut before ejecting from your cutting machine.

Step 2 – While our vinyl is cutting lets prep our blank. I used acetone and cotton pad to remove the saying on the sign. I did a acetone, swipe, fold pad, acetone, wipe, etc technique. Otherwise it smears it and takes longer to clean. Once that was done I use alcohol on a cotton pad and wiped the glass. I do this to make sure I get a nice clean surface. Set aside to dry.

Step 3 – Now that everything is cut lets weed our vinyl. I was using an Ultra glitter and it was thicker. I needed to adjust my settings a little more because while it did cut it could have used another pass or a little more force for a cleaner cut. I ended up doing a reverse weed on the paint strokes to weed my vinyl. When weeding the word search letters I found it was easier for me to weed bottom up. I also pulled the vinyl back to 90 degrees and slowly slid it up. I also periodically cut off the extra vinyl. There were a few spots that I lost a few letters, however, no big deal. Cut some extras out and put them on the backing. I could see the indents so it made it easy to place them. The font is also whimsical enough that it does not have to be perfect. I used a pin pen to get the centers out of the tiny letters. It worked perfect!

Step 4 – Once you have everything weeded lets apply the vinyl. I used the hinge method. This is where I laid my transfer down. Positioned where I wanted it and then used a piece of painters tape across the center of it. Then I lifted half away from the backing. Cut the backing off and placed and squeegee it down. The repeat for the other half. It made it really easy to get a good clean placement. Remove your transfer tape. Again, I pulled it back on itself to help pull it off. If I found an area that didn’t stick push that area down and rub it on. Next put family down, squeegee and remove the transfer tape.

Step 5 – Now for the paint strokes. Since it was going on the back of the glass i grabbed a piece of parchment paper and attached the paint stroke to that leaving transfer tape exposed on the top. Then I could slide it around until I had the placement i wanted. Attached that top transfer tape piece. Lifted up the transfer tape and removed the parchment paper. Then laid down the transfer tape and squegee down. Remove your transfer tape.

Step 6 – Admire your work! You did an amazing job!!!

  • FREE Heart Subway Tile Cutting File

FREE Heart Subway Tile Cutting File

    Heart Subway Tile
    Heart Subway Tile

Happy Sunday Everyone!! We are snowy here in Wisconsin so it’s a perfect day to do some crafting! Today I am sharing with you my FREE Heart Subway Tile Cutting File.  I designed it to be use a Dollar Tree Heart. This helps keep the costs down and a perfect use for that chalk board center! To get your file head over to the Freebie Library, sign in (don’t worry if you are not a member yet, sign up and the password will be emailed to you!!!) and download Number 8! In the zip file you download will be 4 files.  They are SVG, PNG, DXF (If you have the free version of Silhouette Studio you will need this file) and EPS.  Also, before you go and download your file I would appreciate the Pinterest save on this blog post! That helps me so that I can keep sharing free files!! You can also follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest! Again, I am small business and this support is HUGE!!!  Thank you!

I have also uploaded to my shop some really cute Valentine’s files. There is some cute gnomes, leopard and other animal prints, etc.  Also, keep on the watch for a pink gnome valentine truck design that would be great as a print and cut or sublimation!!!

Now, back to the Heart Subway Tile….
Here is the list of supplies that used to make it:
    – Dollar Tree Chalkboard Heart
    – 4 Different colors of vinyl.  I used Red, White, Dark Pink and a light pink.
    – Transfer Tape
    – Scrapping tool
    – Cutting Machine and software
    – Heart Subway Tile File from the Freebie library

    Heart Subway Tile - Supplies
    Heart Subway Tile – Supplies

Load the file into your cutting software.  I have designed and grouped the file for you into the four different colors.  When I uploaded the SVG to my cutting software I did add registration marks on the top to help me line things up. I also added a cut box around the image.  This helps save on vinyl so you know where the perimeter area is.  I then cut all four pieces of my vinyl. One thing I also like to do before pulling my mat out of the cutting machine is confirm that everything is cut.  I normally will weed out the center of a few letters to confirm this.  This way if something didn’t cut all the way I can send it back through without wasting any vinyl!

I then weed all 4 pieces of vinyl. Next up, I take my transfer tape and lay it over the biggest area.  I do this so I have the back I can put back on the weeded design.  I use my scrapping tool and rub the transfer tape onto the vinyl.  I pull the back off from the vinyl.  Expose the registration marks and then put the backing back on the rest of the design.  I then take the next piece of weeded vinyl, line up the registration marks.  Once that is done I then start pulling the backing away and rubbing the transfer tape over the new piece.  I continue this process for all 4 pieces.  Once that is done I pull the registration marks from the transfer tape and apply the design to the heart. Using my scrapper I rub everything well.  I then I pull the transfer tape.  I keep the transfer tape close to the design as I peel it off so it comes off easily.

Now you can add your own finishing touches!!!  I added a messy bow of ribbon and jute (all from the dollar tree) and then add some beads that I had on hand.  I actually had all items on hand in my stash.  This was a great project to use what I had!!!!

I would love to see your creations. Please come back and share in the comments.  I truly love seeing what people have made with my designs.  It is like watching kids grow up.  So please share with me.  AGAIN, I would also love a pin share! Yes, I do happy dances for this.  Small business owners do love these connections. I would share the happy dance I make…but nobody needs to see that.  HEHEHE!  Just know it happens.

Thank you again for stopping by and being part of my dream and 12 Paw Designs! Have an absolutely amazing day!!!

  • Sunday Funday Heart Lines Free File

Sunday Funday Heart Lines Free File

    FREEBIE FILE

Happy Sunday Funday! So let’s have some fun with these Heart Lines Freebie File cutting file to start our week off! I have designed 4 cut files for you in this bundle. The design is Heart Lines that I then added either the word Love with hearts, a Heart with a paw print (you can leave the paw off too!), a paw print or plain. Let your creativity go!!! You will also see the project I made with the Love cut file and the steps I took to create it. To get your file head over to the Freebie Library, sign in (don’t worry if you are not a member yet, sign up and the password will be emailed to you!!!) and download Number 7! Also, I would appreciate the Pinterest save! That helps me so that I can keep sharing free files!! You can also follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest!

    12PD Heart Lines Bundle
Here is the cute sign I made with the Love

To start with I use a Dollar Tree sign I bought at halloween time. It is 6″x6″ in size. I pealed the paper word part off and then gave it a good sanding to get everything off. Next I used chalk paint and applied 2 coats on it. You can use acrylic paint as well or whatever you have at home. I did do a light sanding between coats. Next I took some painters tape and placed it on the board about 1 ½” apart and painted those stripes black. It also would have been cute in grey! Again, let the creativity go!!! While the black was still wet I peeled the tape off to make sure to help eliminate bleed. Below i have my initial steps.

Next I uploaded my file into my favorite cutting software. I ungrouped the heart i was going to use and then picked my colors. I used red glitter for the heart, pink for LOVE and the heart base and then white glitter vinyl for the hearts on top. I like to save time and cut my 2 glitter vinyls together and then cut my glossy vinyl. Cut out your vinyl and then weed out the pieces you don’t want. If you noticed on the red glitter, I cut out the extra before weeding so i could save some for a future project. Once I had everything weeded I then needed to grab a stickier transfer paper for the glitter vinyl. I then applied my vinyl to the sign. You want to make sure your sign is nice and dry. I will let mine sit over night. However, I am normally impatient and I will use a heat gun, hair dryer or put it in front of the heater or fireplace (I live in Wisconsin). I applied the heart first, then Love and then the white glitter hearts on top.

Then to finish it off I added a messy bow. A mess bow is layered cut ribbon on top of each other and tie in the center. I then glued it onto the sign.

Please share what you make with these files! I love to see the creativity!!!

Here are some other ideas for you!

    Happy Sunday!

Also, check out the shop for other fun design files. I upload some great new Valentine designs. Have a suggestion for a design??? Let me know!
